The end of the "War"
The "War of Currents" did not last and after not long the world realized that AC would be the future for electrical distribution due to its numerous advantages (a very important one being low power loss over distances).
- AC power distribution was universally accepted by 1888 - It was clear also in 1893 when Westinghouse AC electrical systems were used to light the Chicago World's Fair that AC had won - After the Worlds fair, more than 80% of electrical devices in the United States were of an AC variety - DC did not die after AC won, it simply became a complementary technology This "war" led to the establishment of the electrical system we have today, where power lines with AC current carry electricity from power plants all over the country. |
